Even though it’s half a year away, we are suddenly getting tons of information about Kingdom Hearts 3. This time, it’s from an interview that Director Tetsuya Nomura had with Famitsu in its latest issue. If that sounds really familiar, that’s because Nomura also released an interview in the same issue about his other highly anticipated JRPG, Final Fantasy 7 Remake. His details for that game were sparse but he gave a ton of details for Sora’s next adventure.
First and foremost, Nomura tackled the subject of the, hopefully, final delay to January 2019. Up until the release date announcement, many fans like us truly believed they could play it this year but we will have to wait just a bit longer. According to Nomura, the slight delay wasn’t actually because of needing more development time but from adjustments with parties involved.
Fans can be happy to know that there won’t be a Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 3 or a season pass for the game. But there are plans for Square Enix to release DLC for the game after its release. At the very least, fans can be happy to know that there won’t be a “better” or more complete version of the game later on down the line. The rest of the details that Nomura gave in the interview are story-related so stop here if you want no spoilers whatsoever.
Anna and Elsa from Frozen won’t join your party, surprisingly, but that world’s storyline will take place during the events of the movie. As such, you can expect to see “Let It Go” at some point. As hinted at in the most recent Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer, the new Pirates of the Carribean world will take place during the third movie At World’s End.
The glimpse of Ratatouille in the trailer is part of a cooking minigame and not a full world. Interestingly enough, the scene of Sora dancing with Rapunzel in Tangled is also a rhythm-based minigame. Lastly, there is a “secret movie” in the works for Kingdom Hearts 3, but it hasn’t been finalized yet.
Kingdom Hearts 3’s game director Tetsuya Nomura made a surprise announcement about an upcoming DLC called ReMIND during the Kingdom Hearts World of Tres Orchestra show in Tokyo. According to Twitter account @YanilynGaming, Nomura took to the stage to make the announcement and revealed a handful of details about the upcoming DLC.

While there isn’t too much known about the DLC yet, the ReMIND bundle will be a paid DLC that includes a new scenario, along with additional episodes and bosses for our heroes to tackle. An English voice-over option will also be available for the additional content. Outside of the paid DLC, there will also be a free shiny new Keyblade for Sora to get his mitts on, as well as a free new form.
The announcement of the new DLC comes hot off the heels of the latest free Critical Mode update, which enables you to take on the heartless in a new difficulty setting. The free update is already proving to be quite the challenge for players.
The title ReMIND is very intriguing indeed. And what new form will Sora take? For now this is all we have to go on, and there's no word of a release date window yet, but apparently more details are said to be coming in June.

Twitter user YanilynGaming reportedly attended the concert and confirmed that Kingdom Hearts franchise director confirmed a bit of paid, and free DLC, on the way. The paid DLC is known as Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMIND. According to Yanilyn, the paid aspect will include an additional scenario known as ReMIND, as well as a 'Limit Episode + Boss,' a new Secret Episode plus a boss, and an English voiceover option for the Japanese version of the game.
Additionally, a new Keyblade and a new form for Sora will be made available for free.
Not too much additional information is available at this time, though we've reached out to Square Enix for comment. Based on the description listed by Yanilyn, the type and amount of content sounds comparable to Final Mix versions of previous games, which are essentially the director's cut versions. Normally released after previous entries in the series, Final Mixes would include additional content to expand on each individual base game.
According to Yanilyn, more details are expected around June, which would line up with Square Enix's recently announced E3 conference as a potential announcement for the event.

Square Enix recently released Critical Mode, a tougher difficulty setting, for Kingdom Hearts 3, this past week, and March's NPD report revealed Kingdom Hearts 3 is the best-selling game of 2019 so far.
Nomura has previously confirmed both paid and free DLC is in the works for Kingdom Hearts 3. Though Nomura did not announce any specific DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3 beyond Critical Mode, we revealed what we’d like to see as DLC. DLC seems like a smart move for Square Enix, as Kingdom Hearts 3 shipped over 5 million copies in its first week, becoming January 2019’s best-selling game.
